After one year since opening in Doral, Ocio has added a new home in Coral Gables. Their new escape is nestled in the heart of the gables and just a few blocks from Miracle Mile. Similar to the Doral flagship, followers will feel the same relaxing atmosphere with warm color but, a more intimate dining room. In addition to Italian pastas, Ocio is adding a Latin flare to honor the owner’s Colombian heritage. After a new state law put limits on how local governments can regulate medical cannabis dispensaries, Coral Gables has taken a step toward banning the businesses in the city.
The City Commission on Tuesday gave initial approval to a citywide ban on shops that sell medical marijuana. It continues the city’s stance that, although Florida voters last fall approved the use of medical marijuana, Gables will not allow dispensaries until they are also allowed under federal law. The council approved a zoning change in 2014 that said dispensaries are not allowed unless the city attorney offers an opinion indicating that federal law has changed. (more…)Read More
WeWork, a global co-working company with three locations in South Florida and others on the runway, announced it will open its first Coral Gables location, WeWork Ponce De Leon, this fall.
The 32,000-square-foot space, located on the first floor and floors 3 through 7 of 2222 Ponce De Leon, will accommodate a community of about 550 members in private offices holding one to 16 people and common desk areas. Like its two WeWork locations in Miami Beach and its recently opened Brickell City Centre site, amenities will include conference rooms, meeting nooks and event spaces, as well as member discounts and other services geared to entrepreneurs and small businesses. Houston, Texas-based Hines just sold a recently completed apartment complex near Coral Gables for $100 million to the Berkshire Group.
Property records show Ponce & Bird Miami Development LLC sold the 276-unit Aviva Coral Gables at 3880 Bird Road to Delaware entities managed by Boston-based Berkshire, BIR Coral Gables I LLC and BIR Coral Gables II LLC.
Aviva, completed in 2015 and about 95 percent leased as of April, sold for about $362,000 per unit. No financing was recorded. (more…)Read More
